Balance is impossible when you're hustling everyday

Hey Babes,

These days it’s not enough for us to just slay the 9-5, then head home and switch off. Whether you’re in school, college or have started your career, we are all hustling to be more every day. And I don’t just mean at work! We are trying to be the best we can be at school and in our jobs, at the gym, in our relationships, our social lives and be there for our friends and families! I know I get overwhelmed at times and I’m sure you guys do too. So I wanted to pass on some of the strategies I have learned from juggling training, eating well, traveling, business, family, social life and everything in between so you can kick all of your girl boss goals!!

You don’t need to have every single moment of your life scheduled, but if you want to make the most of each day you need to make sure you have the important things locked into your calendar, diary, planner, scheduler, whatever you use! I schedule the following things in my calendar and I make sure they are priority number one!

  • Training sessions - exercise is essential for keeping me sane.

  • Meal prep time - when I eat well I feel on top of the world, like I can achieve anything I set my mind to!

  • Family time - I try to spend quality time with my fam on the reg, and I don’t just mean saying Hi as we pass each other in the doorway!!!

  • BFF time - I make sure I always have a catch up scheduled with my BFFs. It gives me something to look to and always helps me to keep the work/ fun balance level!

  • Me time - this might come in the form of a spa day or massage, getting my nails or hair done or just taking the afternoon off work to spend some time solo.

These are my non-negotiables that I just don’t compromise on. While they may not all be glamorous or fun on the surface, I’ve learned that if I don’t have these essentials scheduled into my everyday life, it’s hard for me to be the best version of myself.

Win the week

Learn to say no

Sometimes saying no to a friend, loved one or your boss is the hardest thing on Earth to do, but it is an important thing to learn to do. Learning to sometimes say no, means allowing yourself the time to focus on what is important to you. If you find it unbearable, try asking to postpone or reschedule to a time when you are free, so you don’t have to miss out on anything.

There will be times when you can’t do everything you need to or want to, you can’t please everybody and you might have a deadline or two looming over your head. This kind of situation can feel overwhelming, leaving you unsure of the best way to move forward. In times like this I try to really focus on the most urgent or important things, leaving anything that is not essential for later.

It’s actually a good idea to set yourself up with some non-negotiables, such as your training sessions and meal prep time, in everyday life. Making sure your NGs are never sacrificed will help you stay on track with your personal goals, development and help to manage stress, which in turn makes it easier to maintain the hustle.

Get plenty of sleep

I cannot emphasise enough how important sleep is to literally every aspect of life! If you want to achieve your goals, whether it’s changing your body composition, getting big results at work or school, improving your performance in the gym, even just being a good friend or bae, you need to get enough sleep to support your body, mind and spirit. Sleep allows your muscles to grow, your brain to relax and eliminate toxins and your body to reset itself, and if you aren’t getting enough sleep, or poor quality sleep, you will find life can get hard pretty quickly.

Most people need around 7-8 hours a night, but teens and people with very physically or mentally demanding lives have been shown to REALLY need those 8 hours. If you find you are struggling to concentrate, you are lacking motivation, getting sick or injured often, or have dull skin and hair, these can all be some signs that your body is crying out for high quality rest. EHPLabs has an amazing sleep support supplement, called OxyRem, that helps you drift off into a deep sleep that lasts all night, aids fat burning throughout your rest, you will wake up feeling fresh as a daisy, and it is even vegan friendly!!! If you are going through a rough patch with your sleep, and your performance is suffering as a result, I recommend giving OxyRem a try.

Eat well

If you’re reading this blog you’re probably already pretty conscious of how well you eat. But for people who ask more of themselves on a daily basis, nutrition can be the difference between achieving your goals and falling short. And I’m not just talking about your body goals! Eating a diet full of healthy, whole foods that nourish your body won’t just have a positive impact on your training and physique, it will also improve your recovery, your brain function and in turn help you sleep better at the end of the day.

Experiment with different nutrition strategies until you find a balanced diet that works for you. Some foods can keep some of us up at night, some foods can cause uncomfortable bloating, some foods can leave us feeling sluggish. So I recommend paying attention to the way you feel when you eat different foods, this will help you to really dial in your high performance diet that will allow you to get more out of each day! If you need a helping hand learning about the basics, and the more advanced concepts around eating well, check out my meal plans page. I have shown thousands of girls all over the world how to improve their diet, helping them to look and feel the way they have always dreamed.

So babes, I know you are ready to take your progress to the next level, no matter what your goal! So put my balanced life tips into action and let’s work!
